It's time to gain back the use of your yard! Imagine the freedom to truly enjoy being outdoors. You could be gardening, grilling out, lounging by the pool or having a family gathering with the children playing outside - without worrying about pesky mosquitoes. Learn more about optimal Mosquito Control through the use of Mosquito Misting Systems or Mosquito Misting Sprays.

What is a Mosquito Misting System?

A Mosquito Misting System, also sometimes called an Outdoor Misting System, is an application system designed to spray pesticides in a fine mist to kill mosquitoes and other insects outdoors.

How does a Mosquito Misting System work?

The installation of a Mosquito Misting System includes spray nozzles that are mounted around the perimeter of a home in the lawn or landscaping, or on parts of the house or fence. The spray nozzles are connected by tubing to a supply of insecticide. These components and controller will be installed in inconspicuous areas throughout your lawn to eliminate mosquitoes, flies, gnats and other insects while fitting right in with your family and lifestyle needs.

The automated Mosquito Control System sprays a very fine mist of botanical insecticide. The mist settles on the grass and landscaping, killing any mosquito that comes in contact with it. It is suggested to set your system to spray 2 to3 times a day, early in the morning and early in the evening when mosquitoes are most active and while beneficial insects, like bees and butterflies are not. It also kills or repels other unwanted pest like flies and gnats. Some Misting Systems may be turned on at preset intervals using a timer. Others may be turned on using a remote controller, while others may be activated using a switch.

Are Mosquito Misting Systems Safe?

People and pets may be exposed to pesticides used in a Mosquito Misting System through direct contact with sprays, by touching plants or other objects in the treated area. EPA has assessed the human health and environmental risks of the pesticides most commonly used in misting systems. Most of these pesticides last only short periods in the environment, so long-term exposure to humans is not expected. Based on its assessment, using toxicity data and exposure estimates, EPA does not expect risks of concern to humans when these chemicals are used in outdoor residential systems according to labeling specific for use in these systems. However, excessive use or accidents may pose risks. No pesticide should be regarded as 100% risk free.
